If your eye examination results in a recommendation to see another health professional (like an eye surgeon), we will initiate the referral process by submitting a formal written request to the specialist, usually by fax. We routinely check that faxed requests are received by the intended recipient. These referrals are then assessed by the specialist who will then prioritize the consultation on a case-by-case basis. We have little or no control over wait times, nor will we have information on specific appointment times or locations.
For this reason, please let us know the date of your upcoming appointment once it has been made for you. This way, we can schedule follow-up appointments on a timely basis.
Local referrals usually involve one of the following ophthalmologists who practice in the Comox Valley and use the Comox Valley North Island Hospital for routine surgical procedures:
